Handy business apps every entrepreneur should know about

As a business owner, you are likely inundated with a huge number of daily tasks that threaten to overwhelm you and cause you to lose sight of any kind of work-life balance. While this is something that will likely always be a struggle, it’s important to remember that there are tools out there that will help you get more done in less time—not to mention save your sanity!

Apps are handy tools that entrepreneurs can rely on to run their businesses and manage their lives. However, with thousands and thousands of options on the market these days, it can be tough knowing which ones really will make a positive difference to your day, and which ones will just end up wasting your time.

Expensify
A common monthly task that people find onerous is tracking and recording expenses. If you want to make this regular job an easier and quicker one, it’s time to check out Expensify. Available for both Android and iOS operating systems, the app makes organizing expense claims a snap for both employees and business owners (or their accountants).
You can use Expensify while on the go or away for work. Simply upload a photo of your receipt when paying by cash, or have all your expenses automatically imported from your bank account straight to the app for credit and debit card transactions.
From there, Expensify will “talk” directly to a variety of payroll, accounting, customer relationship management, and enterprise resource planning software. The app seamlessly integrates information with popular systems used by many small and large businesses, including SAP, QuickBooks, Xero, Oracle, and Salesforce, among others.

Evernote
An app that you have likely heard about at some stage is Evernote. Used by more than 100 million people around the world, the software helps business owners (and anyone else) to organize and keep track of information, whether at home, in the office, traveling across the globe, in transit, or anywhere else on the go.
If you find that you’re constantly writing down notes on scraps of paper, bookmarking articles to read later, or trying to remember a specific piece of information from an email you received, you’re sure to love Evernote.
The free app works on, and syncs between, pretty much every type of device imaginable (including laptops, smartphones, tablets, and desktop computers) and gives users quick and easy access to all their information. The simple interface allows you to save, sort, and upload a wide variety of data, from website URLs and voice memos, to “notes to self,” to-do lists, invoices, receipts, appointments, and more.
Quickly search all of your saved information by tags, keywords, names, or written text. The software even allows users to add their own words to images so that they’re more searchable in the future.

Toggl
If your business model requires you and your staff to keep track of the amount of time spent on projects, then the Toggl app is a must. The easy-to-use time-tracking software helps consultants and contractors keep an eye on working hours with just a single click of a button. The app is also helpful if you want to limit time spent working on certain tasks during the day, or if you need to estimate how long various jobs take to complete.
One of the best features of Toggl is that it doesn’t need access to the Internet to work. The app simply tracks the time spent on tasks while you’re offline (meaning you can work distraction-free from home, the office, or anywhere else), and then syncs the data once you’re connected to the Internet again.

TripIt
If you travel a lot for work, an app like TripIt is essential. The free software helps users manage the many details of their domestic or international trips together and accessible in one convenient system. The app handles lots of different data, including flight information, hotel and car rental details, travel insurance, restaurant bookings, and more.
